Here is Fr. Mikhail on the 1983 ROCOR anathemas of these positions: https://youtu.be/pIcuY0k5duY

Stay strong Jay, you're doing God's work. You're responsible for a lot of people in my personal life converting, and continue to bring more people into communion with Christ. Every irl convert under 35 I've met in Orthodoxy knows you and credits you in some fashion.

Christ is Risen!

The irony of calling this guy gay when all of everything that you do, Jay, on YouTube, Discord, and now Substack, etc. is so flaming GAE. Great Apologetics and Evangelism.

But seriously, it bewilders me how people act like this, being new into the faith, being in their early 20's and treating Discord as if it were the key battleground of ideas, of forging relationships, and so on. The former, perhaps. The latter, not so much.

As a relatively new convert (5 years is still new, right?) who is now in his 30's, I've not read nearly half as much these single-focused newbies tend to do. It seems that all they do is read and imbibe this sort of content all day everyday - either that or they simply have better comprehension and focusing abilities than I do (though I think that this is unlikely). If I was to compare my knowledge as a fresh convert, and even now, it is true that I would know far less of the fathers or of philosophy than they do. Yet all of it strikes me as being knowledge (so-called) without wisdom; of having the advantages of being self-taught without the frameworks of self-mastery; of being learned without being guided (or worse, being guided by the wrong guides). You'd think that they'd have the ability to just take a moment of self-reflection and ask themselves if they happen to be in the wrong. Apparently not so.

I largely think that this gamma phenomenon - or at least the autistic, spergy, online convert who thinks too highly of himself phenomenon (and let's face it, it's usually some 20 year old guy with no prospects or things going in his life other than maybe college) is explicable by the fact that Gen Z'ers spend most of their time online and in front of screens, explaining said author's socially awkward, naive and nervous demeanours. I understand it - truly, as a millennial who played far too many video games and was on the internet too much as a kid, I do. The issue is that the remedy to this is easily recognised and perhaps just as easily, but painfully, applied: half of these problems would be resolved if these people touched grass more.

You can't call the other dude effeminate, then write something with this much vitriol. Idk why you are responding to any of this anyway, no one cares about the gay discord drama.

GOARCH Metropolitan shared his letter so yeah, I will reply on this platform. Thousands of people care about it.

That's a false comparison.

People do care about what happens on social media especially when the name of the orthodox Church is being dragged through the mud and/or falsely criticised.

Jay is frequently criticised for his 'behaviour' so his response is totally understandable.

Jay laid out all the facts about the issue.

Somehow I saw that post and read the article and defended you (and all of us) in the comments, noting that the very use of the term “grooming” with regards to that discord channel and anything you do betrays the moral deformity and rottenness of the person who wrote that mewling hit-job. Sad that several actual priests uncritically supported the article in the comments. If Dyer and traditionalists are a “church within a church,” then man up and call us schismatics. Since these halflings are effeminate cowards and midwits, not only will they not do so, they will not even realize they are accusing others of schism…. even as they openly accuse vast swaths of new converts of schism.

I was baptized, communed and confirmed Roman Catholic. I was later Chrismated Orthodox in a Russian Orthodox Church MP in the former Soviet Union. I remember when I returned to the States and went to a ROCOR Parish the priest asked me if I had been baptized Orthodox. I told him I was baptized Roman Catholic and Chrismated Orthodox overseas. He looked at me and said, that's interesting. We baptize former Roman Catholics here. Regardless though that Priest treated my conversion to Orthodoxy as valid. I was never denied the sacraments there or anywhere and I don't hide that was a Roman Catholic who was Chrismated Orthodox. I know the Old Calendarists of the G.O.C. would say I should have been baptized Orthodox and would probably say I need to get baptized Orthodox.

All the Western converts who brought their identity crises with them into the Church are turning it into a different flavor of their former Protestant fundamentalism, and they can’t even tell. Criticizing canonical hierarchy, internet blog beef, video drama. It’s all an American pseudo-Orthodoxy. Has nothing to do in reality with the Fathers and the Neptic tradition at the heart of the Byzantine heirloom passed down, it’s just posturing.

lol, no. seems u don’t know American converts very well. NOT “fundamentalists” in any way.

If you think you have the right to criticize and reject the authority of your canonical Bishops, you're a protestant deep down no matter how many icons you kiss.

you don’t even know what “fundamentalism” means, which is why you can’t defend your slander against vast swaths of a burgeoning Orthodox people group. Sounds judgmental to me.

It can sound judgmental, that’s fine. But at the end of the day Western converts, who are largely still Evangelical-minded, don’t speak for the Orthodox history and life.
